<strong>Issue:</strong><br> This roof was at the end of its life. In the photos you can see a build up of moss and lichen on the shingles. This creates a lot of moisture as well as deteriorates the granules in the asphalt shingles. This caused the shingles lifespan to decrease. Procrastinating on this situation would have led to further damage and leaks which would increase the cost of replacement down the road.
Solution: The roof was completely replaced. This customer went with Owens Corning Onyx Black Shingles and Black Drip Edge. As well as Copper Chimney Flashing. They also opted for screen covers for their gutters.
What Is Drip Edge? It is a metal piece that lays on top of the Facasia to help redirect water into the gutters.
Why Screen Covers? The Screen Covers help to prevent the gutters from getting blocked by any debris. Blockage in the gutters can cause water to build up which would lead to damage and leaks.
Why Copper Chimney Flashing? This is the Ideal metal for around the chimney due to durability and appearance. Copper is also environmentally friendly compared to lead which can contaminate the area around it.
